event planner and master of ceremonies
I had the opportunity in May to organize an event for the Adelaide University Malaysian Students Association (AUMSA) and come up with ideas that would attract the students in university. After settling on the idea to do a collaboration with the Japanese Society in university, I took the initiative to facilitate meetings and discuss the planning of the event. I lead a team of 6, discussing different aspects of the event which includes the logistics, decorations, catering, marketing and floor directions. I also in charge of organizing food catering and sponsorship, and managed to secure $500 from several sponsors. I was also the first point of contact where I had to negotiate and meet with the Japanese society to maintain a good relationship and get the best outcome for this event. Furthermore, I was also the Master of Ceremonies where I ensured a good flow of the evening, facilitated ice breaking and the best dressed competition. I am really proud of my achievements after spending so much time and effort to get the best results for the event.
social volunteer in fiji
I went on a month long volunteering program in Fiji where I assisted individuals in Fiji to expand or startup their business by providing business advice and mentoring sessions. I spent a lot of my time and effort with my team members to first empathize with the locals to understand the business culture and the challenges they faced. After much researching and thinking of solutions, we managed to develop and pitched profitable solutions to potential clients. I also facilitated meetings with stakeholders that stand to gain maximum benefit from this project. There were many challenging aspects on this project such as hustling, adapting and thinking outside of the box but I am very proud that I went for this project.
volunteer in cleland wildlife park
I am a proud volunteer of Cleland Wildlife Park. It was something I started in my first year of university and was still feeling timid in nature. However, volunteering at the wildlife park has helped develop my self confidence, leadership skills and customer service. I volunteer in the animal management department where I assist the park keepers with food preparation and basic animal care. Occasionally, I will also help out with the information booth where I provide assistance and Mandarin translations to overseas tourists. This has all been under my own initiative and I do my best each time I volunteer by either keeping the kitchen clean or making sure visitors are having a great time. It makes me happy inside knowing that I have helped someone and made their day better.
